The in 1966 Albert Zemmer, owner of the Saxelerhof and paymaster of the Kastelruth Raiffeisen bank, bought the rustic Baumwirt guesthouse with the intention of bequeathing it to the next of his sons to marry. In 1970 the guesthouse was passed on to Richard Zemmer, who demolished the old rustic guesthouse and built a 15-room hotel with a bar and restaurant. In 2002 his son Raimund Zemmer took over the hotel with his wife Judith and, as it was necessary to restructure the business and introduce measures for quality improvement and also to extend the hotel with the inclusion of the appropriate facilities for our guests, the renovation work took place the same year and the guesthouse was gradually transformed into the 3 star superior hotel that it is today.
