The history of our house
In 1751 Joseph Schißling owned a
guest house with interior buildings and equipment, in fact part of the local
count’s estate (it was the first guest house in St. Michael); in 1780
the guest house was taken on by Christian Mesner; in 1822 Johann Messner,
landlord, herald and owner of the estate became the owner; in 1846 Alois
Messner, also owner of the estate; in 1859 - Michael Thomaseth Ritsch; in
1861 - Alois Messner; in 1862 - Anton Hofer, master tailor; in 1895 - Josef
Hofer, son of Anton; in 1900 Barbara Told, a maid from Bolzano, marries
Hofer; in 1909 - Johann Dominik Mussner; in 1914 - Josef Messner; in 1918
- Bartlmä Rufin; in 1927 - Vigil Mauroner; in 1931 - Josef Bauer; in
1936 Gisella Santifaller marries Gemaßmer and Brunell Cesare and in
1937 Gisella Santifaller in Gemaßmer.
The in 1966 Albert Zemmer, owner of
the Saxelerhof and paymaster of the Kastelruth Raiffeisen bank, bought the
rustic Baumwirt guesthouse with the intention of bequeathing it to the next
of his sons to marry. In 1970 the guesthouse was passed on to Richard Zemmer,
who demolished the old rustic guesthouse and built a 15-room hotel with
a bar and restaurant. In 2002 his son Raimund Zemmer took over the hotel
with his wife Judith and, as it was necessary to restructure the business
and introduce measures for quality improvement and also to extend the hotel
with the inclusion of the appropriate facilities for our guests, the renovation
work took place the same year and the guesthouse was gradually transformed
into the 3 star superior hotel that it is today.
